Floyds in Strats

Strats with Floyds are dead sexy and a major improvement!

Don't do it, you'll devalue your strat for the sake of 80s nostalgia!

To floyd or not to floyd...

Post by Basket Case »

...that is the question. So I've officially gone strat mad and now have 4 of them. A Warmoth/Fender hybrid (which already has a Floyd), a Mexi, a USA and a USA Deluxe. It would be really nice to be able to use the trem without going out of tune. Personally, I get rather excited about a Strat with a Floyd, but is it something that devalues them or makes them harder to sell one day? Is it sacrilege? Is it just plain wrong? What do you think?

if ya want to be dif, i havnt seen a strat with a fixed bridge and stoptail
Hurdy Gurdy.... some how... and I'm not entirely certain how mind you, an instrument that sounds like someone has shoved a nest of angry hornets into a goose with a kazoo bill and is randomly slapping the poor creature with an accordion.... Sounds amazing.

I love Strats, and I hate Floyds, so there's my answer. The only Floyd I like is the Pink one.

Um, if you actually plan on USING your Floyd then go for it. If its just there for shits and giggles then i'd say no.

Or if you really want it there just for something different (not entirely sure how a floyd on a strat is different, but roll with me on this one) then maybe a kahler trem?

Actually, I thought while typing that I might be lacking credentials to back up my pro-Floyd assertion. Of my 5 electrics, only 2 have locking trems, and the one I'm getting Ash to build will make that 2 of 6 with locking trems.

... then again, I have no strats, so perhaps that's it. I think Richie Sambora would agree that a strat needs a Floyd:
