It only works if there is a problem to start with. Like it says in the description about the Jazz bass problem, it can move dead notes to a different pitch where you don't notice them. While it can increase sustain and even out dead spots, it does so at the expense of harmonics and a lively sound.

Yes, to some extent. Its probably not as heavy though. Good for holding a fake cigarrette so that you look all cool and shit like Slash.
