CableWoe, or WTF is going on here?

Post by Slowy »

Got a cable; Lava, with a factory connected G&H plug on one end and a not factory Switchcraft on the other.

From working as expected, it's lost all treble and 70% of volume.

For heavens sake, there's only 3 pieces!
I need someone smarter than me to explain please?
Beyond a critical point within a finite space, freedom diminishes as numbers increase. This is as true of humans as it is of gas molecules in a sealed flask. The human question is not how many can possibly survive within the system, but what kind of existence is possible for those who so survive.

There is some sort of 'short' somewhere. Is all
When faced with quality, I recognise it every time.

Does the hot wire inside have a black plastic film covering It? If that touches the terminal it conducts to ground, causing a signal loss. I learned this the hard way the first time I made a cable from Mogami 2524.

Yeah grab a multimeter and see if you can measure resistance between tip and sleeve, its likely something is touching or one of the soldered connections is partially broken and shorting out.
