Wellington - Drummer and/or percussionist wanted - Political Ukelele Rap

Post by HooolyCow »

Kia ora whānau,
We are a pair of intermediate 30 y/o musicians looking for drummers or percussionists to join our new ukulele band.
To start we're looking to get on the open mic circuit with 2 or 3 decent covers / waiata.
Then see what grows organically, with potential to explore jamming/originals.
Influences include Jon Butler, Jack Johnson, Jake Bugg, Rage against the Machine, Flight of the Concords.
We wanna be explicitly political / tongue in cheek so Nat voters or anyone suffering from a humour deficit need not apply 😜
Please email me at liam.joseph.hunt@gmail.com
Cheers!
Liam

I specifically allowed your post so I could point out that political or discriminatory dialogue does not meet our board rules. What if someone who had no sense of humour rolled up, but played a mean bongo?

Good luck with the band.

Is this more about the politics of the ukulele as a cultural object of colonial dominance or about just shits and giggles?

To be fair, I'd forget about the politics and just put a "No accordian players need apply" blanket ban on it.

You sound a little politically biased, are you in favour of

a/ higher tax?
or
b/ lower pensions?

No political bias to that poll. Sorted.

Except those questions sound like they might actually be from a political party.

Skiffle as a Genre is definitely left of center. Ukeleles maybe not so much.

Skiffle and anarchy seem good partners

Communist guitars look cool, but only work with communist (and possibly socialist) amps, due to the wonky pin-out (not joking).
