1990's/modern Cover band members?

Post by The Scarecrow »

Just testing the waters, but I'm potentially looking for members for a new covers band that myself, the bass player and our female vocalist from the Rickshaws are considering starting for some extra dollars this year.

We're probably looking for another guitarist, preferably lead as I'll stick to rhythm for the most part , potentially a keys/sythn player and a drummer. We may look to having another male vocalist so if you can sing as well, awesome.

It would be a pretty casual affair, mostly just playing parties and the odd corp event (as our singer works for MTV) and most stuff in the vein of pop and rock stuff from the 90's -> now. Things like No Doubt, Kings of Leon, Garbage, Weezer, Letters To Cleo, Nelly Furtado, Amy Winehouse, The Strokes, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Goo Goo Dolls, Foo Fighters, Jewel, Blur, Ting Tings, etc.

We're not super-serious about gigging regulary, as Rickshaws is our primary project, but it would be nice to have fund with some covers and maybe make a bit of coin.

PM me to discuss.

That sounds like fun.

90 covers are pretty cool. I still recall 1996 as if it was yesterday.

Sounds like good fun, unfortunately I can't sing and it sounds like you have bass and roll-back-the-volume-so-no-one-notices-your-bum-notes 2nd guitarist covered.

Ha, the title originally had 80's in it.... but then I realised I was the only one in the band so far who clearly recalled it with a passion.

I could be keen, I have the odd other project but I can make the sort of commitment you're after.

Where (ish) and how often would you look to be practicing?

My singing remains untested in a live environment. Might be ok for backup.

Erm probably going to discuss with bandmates this weekend all the details, but I'd say practises would be at least once or twice a month, probably @ The Manor, or singer's place in Aucks central.
