Former Skeptic wants bass player.

Post by badmotor »

Wrong forum, but just in case someone here knows someone appropriate:

We have been out gigging for the last 2 years as a 2-piece, and have decided to add a bass player to our lineup.

Original rock styles - if you are into QOTSA, Tool, NIN, Deftones, you are probably on the right track. musically tight, reliable, good gear, transport etc etc.

We are looking to record an EP soon.

While need of a bass player is debatable, I do think the band's potential will be significantly greater with one, especially one who can sing strong harmonies and contribute melodic basslines.

I for one congratulate you on your decision.

I must admit, I quite like bands with no bass player. There's a sparseness to the sound that's rather nice.
"Vince, have you ever tried playing an expensive bass?" - Polarbear.
"And isn't that the finest acoustic bass guitar feedback solo you've ever heard?" - Billy Moose.

yeah i find it pretty good not having a bassist, or a second guitarist sometimes, dont have to worry about frequencies getting lost
does make some of the songs a bit harder to write though as having to fill in all the sound myself (apart from drums and vocals  )
Hurdy Gurdy.... some how... and I'm not entirely certain how mind you, an instrument that sounds like someone has shoved a nest of angry hornets into a goose with a kazoo bill and is randomly slapping the poor creature with an accordion.... Sounds amazing.

With no bass player the drummer is just a loose cannon!

True enough, but there's something really primal about having the KD being the only "bassline" 8)

Cool Mark - we've been making a bit of an impact I think, but it's time to make it bigger (and more complex). Argh... right person... I'm remaining positive now, but fresh in memory is when we first started and auditioned people having to bruise sensitive musicians when you suggest their playing might not be up to scratch.

Actually excited though.
