My band Zephyr needs to replace me as I'm moving on. Many of you local guys will know what the band is like from having seen us before (thanks!) - but on the personal side, it's always been a pretty chilled out environment, everyone has day jobs so it's never been about getting as many gigs a week as possible. That said, we have traditionally aimed for the corporate/functions market - weddings, Xmas parties and the like, so our gigs are usually better paid than the standard pub gig.
Here's the ad that bass player/band manager made up:
Experienced Covers Lead Guitarist Wanted
Are you an experienced Guitarist who can play well, belt out your gat chops and
have a great time? If you are, Zephyr wants to hear from you!
We are an active Wellington-based pop/rock covers band on the lookout for a
new lead guitarist as ours is leaving.
Our repertoire ranges from classic rock to contemporary pop/rock with some
oldies and good old pub standards thrown in. Examples of artists we cover include
the Eagles, Fleetwood Mac, The Pretenders, CCR, Pearl Jam, AC/DC, Lenny Kravitz,
Foo Fighters and more!
Gigging experience, the ability to attend regular practices and bringing a fun
attitude to the band is an absolute must. And you’ll get extra bonus points if you
can sing backing vocals or even take over the mic stand for a few songs.
We’ll be kicking off auditions from March 25th, but please let your interest known
as we’d like to fill you in on the audition tracks.
Please email welly_man@hotmail.com with the email title “Zephyr Lead Guitarist:
[YOUR NAME]”, tell us a bit about yourself and any music samples you can
provide to register your interest!

Re: Wellington - who wants to be in a covers band?
We used to do once a week, but it became a little bit difficult with everyone's schedules. I think in the new line-up they're looking to do mostly "self study", and then meet up once every 3 weeks or so for a proper practice.

Wellington - who wants to be in a covers band?
Depends. Corporate gigs means its not on a steady schedule. Usually once a month, but in wedding season it can be more often. Best to talk directly to Aaron.
