Trying to form a band.

Extreme long shot but I may as well ask here, too.

I play electric baritone guitar and I'd love to get a guitar band together.

I've asked friends what the music sounds like and they replied "cosmic mood music". Ah. "Cinematic" is another word. "Atmospheric", "chill" and "ambient", too.

I have some unfinished songs and would be happy to complete them with someone. They're instrumentals so far.
I like a lot of bands on the 90s Creation label. I like African beats, desert blues (Ali Farka Touré, Tinariwen, that sort of thing). Post-Rock. Some Noise Rock. Krautrock. The Velvets. Repetitive patterns. Extended grooves. I'm more of a rhythm guitarist. I'm suppose I'm in the experimental camp but I don't know if I'm into any of those guys. Not interested in metal.

I'd like to meet a percussionist of some sort (kit or hand), and either another guitarist or a bass player (either/or. I like a lot of bassless bands). Oh and a singer to either write words or vocalise.

Given all the above, the chances of making a buck are very slim and that's fine by me. Anybody out there?

If only you were nearby, I'd love to see if we could make it work.
Making a buck out of music.....what planet do you come from?

LOL I know.

It's just a copy and paste from FB and there you DO get a mix of people, some coming in from overseas and desperate to make a quid. And I actually DO come from a band called Planet! :D

And yeah, a jam would've been fun.

I think it sounds awesome. If I was not already in a committed relationship, I’d be so there.

If you don’t mind me saying, the pitch seems too comprehensive. Does sound a bit like you’ve got it all worked out and that might make other musicians feel like they’d not have much chance for input. Minds are stupid like that.
I’d strip the influences right back and let them come out in the jamming once you get some players in a room.

Also, hang out where other musicians are. When I think back across the decades, I’ve played with heaps of different people. The core of the best bands have always formed through people I already know.

On the plus side, it filters out a bunch of people who might want to do Fleetwood Mac covers. Straight. Been there. :)

Good point. Yeah, I totally do. I go out a fair bit, do the open mics a fair bit, I'm out there. And yes, agreed about "people you know", to the extent that I often prefer to start off with people I know, even if they don't already play (it's a bit of an experimental art-rock "Socialist Patient's Collective makes an album!" thing for me) and then work around common tastes and abilities. Mind you, that can get awkward if after a few weeks, someone is not taking it seriously or whatever. You CAN say "Frank, no hard feelings but this particular aspect of our friendship is not working out for me" but it can be awkward AF.
