Troubled fingers?

Post by Jay »

Hey guys, do you worry sometimes about your fingers or do you think they will last forever? Anyone suffering from split skin? (Mine split every winter and it is a real pain).
Will you be still playing if/when rheumatism affects your fingers?

Mr rock & roller himself seems to be unaffected by it so there is hope I guess....

Thinking about giving up Judo at the end of the year because I'm always worried im going to land with my full body weight on one of my fingers, or my wrist etc. Might find another martial art to go in its place. Otherwise I just take good care of my hands (and nails).

I've got one bung finger from playing cricket. It seems to have come right, I just have to make sure I warm up properly.

I am an imported Westie...Would you call that Auckland?

Always interested to compare Yammies... I have gone a bit over the top the last couple of years with vintage Yamaha GAS.

I understand you have some ASH pickups on one?

You two should marry.
Beyond a critical point within a finite space, freedom diminishes as numbers increase. This is as true of humans as it is of gas molecules in a sealed flask. The human question is not how many can possibly survive within the system, but what kind of existence is possible for those who so survive.

The index finger on my fretting hand is pretty bung from being split open in a Snowboarding incident. Movement is slightly restricted, it makes ope D minors and F chords really tricky because I can't quite bend the finger far enough. It's been that way for many years, I guess I've just learned to work with it, but I do find it's getting slightly worse with age. I always said as long as I have one finger on my left hand and two on my right to hold a pick, I can still at least play slide.

I remember doing some roofing with my Dad, sliding big sheets of roofing iron around being totally paranoid I would lose a finger or two.

I have arthritis already (I'm only 25) so I'll just keep going as long as I can. Like Sooty says, slide is always a good option in the far off future.

Bugger, sorry to hear that. I don't know what Mr Rock & Roller suffers from but I guess it is arthritis as well. Mind you, he's in his 60ties now.

Looks like you have the right attitude - keep positive, keep on playing.
