Well here is my challenge entry:

Its "Houses of the Holy" from the album Physical Graffiti. I had not even heard the song until very recently but have been trying on & off to play it ever since I found a good transcription for it about a year ago. When this challenge came up I got right into learning all of it as best as I Could.

There are three tracks, the backing track, the main rhythm track & also an improvised lead break at the end (its based loosely on the real one).

You can get it here, though I'm sure BG will arrange for it to be hosted at some point :)

Then click "click here to download"
You can wait the 30 seconds but its easier just to lick the green "here" link on the page that opens, particularly if you're using internet explorer.

(Its 5.9Mb - 192 kbps)

I did it with the SG, bridge pickup, Vox AC30 on with the Fender blackface 2x12 model selected, manual settings with a touch of reverb. For overdrive I used my new Marshall Guv'nor 2 which I got off Ebay & I also used compression - a Marshall ED-1 which helps even out the piece.

I haven't quite got the licks in between the rhythm right, but this was about the best I did out of about eight takes.

So there we have it!

well that sucks? I tried it out in both firefox & IE6 on my winXP machine & it seemed to download fine??

I also put it up here:

http://www.filefactory.com/file/6c4bd1/

Click on "Download for free with FileFactory Basic"
(you may get an advert page, just click "click here to skip this advert")
In the page that then loads click "Click here to begin your download "

I really should invest in my own webspace :?

it doesn't suck, it licks ;) or rather: :P

I was being an idiot (no surprises there ;) ). It d/l fine, and I've just been listening to it. I couldn't remember the song from the title, but as soon as your clip started it came back to me. I liked the little licks you threw into the rhythm - quite Page-y but not as tinny and sloppy. ;)

Yeah it took quite a bit of work & still isn't as good as I'd have liked (every guitarist says that). Its a fantastic rhythm, great song, sounded bizarre after playing it so many times to hear the actual song a few days ago.

I've listened to both the other entries, I was very impressed with the singing in your one Tsuken and the authenticity of the tone for BG's one....two stairway covers, music shop owners everywhere will be rocking back & forth foaming at the mouth ;)

How'd you get the tone? POD patch or just knowing what to set your amp to? Its bloody great, I have a real hard time with tone settings...

yes its a pod patch but I usually just find something close and start fiddling with it until I'm happy. That one was pretty easy, Dave Gilmours patches can be ridiculous - I usually just turn everything on ;)
