My bands first outing
Here's a couple of vids of 'my' band Ninja Monkey at our debut performance. Half the band is NZG alumni, with 'ThatGirl' on vocals and bass, and myself being the guitarist on the left. I've been whoring these over social networks, so if you've seen them already I apologise
We played a a muso night thing last week, where different bands get up and play for around 20 minutes. We played three originals and one cover, the two 'best' ones are attached below... Sound and video quality provided by a Fujifilm digital camera But it didn't come out too bad. We were all nervous-as-all-hell for this, so our stage presence wasn't top of the list, but we are working on it
Warning: this may be considered pop music
Hold On (ignore the title fail at the start of the vid, I blame my Mac ):

Gone:

For the tone spotters, my gear was: Ibanez JS1200, Peavey JSX amp (crunch channel with the gain on 2.5). Rhythm sounds were just the amp drive, solos included such things as Cusack Screamer for a bit more gain, Vox Time Machine delay for 80's lead wetness, MXR 6-band EQ in the loop for some mid (and volume) boost and EVH Phase 90 in the first vids solo.
All questions, comments and abuse welcome

Cool man - do I detect some Def Leppard influence in there?

No worries man, it reminds me heaps of the stuff I used to do in the Rickshaws, though the guitars sounded more epic in your band...Gelato wrote:Thanks dudeThe Scarecrow wrote:Dig it.

The smoke monster was a bit of a surprise I think! It's a whole new world venturing out of the practice room onto a stageRocklander wrote:yeah, very cool team.. although I must admit to having a very real fear that the smoke monster from lost was about to attack ThatGirl
Cheers Being a child of the 70's and 80's I would definitely put Def Leppard in my influences for surebadmotor wrote:Cool man - do I detect some Def Leppard influence in there?

I'm amazed you didn't see me jump with the shock. One minute the drummer was there, one minute he was gone!rocklander wrote:yeah, very cool team.. although I must admit to having a very real fear that the smoke monster from lost was about to attack ThatGirl

Cool Epic is a word we try and throw around as much as we can, glad to know that it sometimes comes offThe Scarecrow wrote:No worries man, it reminds me heaps of the stuff I used to do in the Rickshaws, though the guitars sounded more epic in your band...
