Re: My bands first outing
Nah. Probably a while off... if memory serves they're roughly an annual thing?
or is that misinformation?

Re: My bands first outing
I think NZG gigs can happen whenever there's a risk of people showing up and someone risky enough to organise it.
There are certainly lots of NZG affiliated bands available to support/be-supported.

Re: My bands first outing
Yes the active band roster is looking refreshingly healthy these days eh. May be a bit much interbreeding between some bands but all in all a lot of great stuff going on.

Overall good stuff! -Solid timing (and as you know I reckon) that's a big thing.
Definitely that first gig stiffness in terms of aesthetics. Don't worry, after about four or five you'll be naked and humping the hi-hat stand. That stuff takes care of itself.
Right now I'm hearing two guitar players existing together. Over time you can enrich those arrangements by working on creating parts and textures that weave together. Be friends, and go at it.

Re: My bands first outing
Yes its officially an annual event, however as ARSE weren't included in the last gig bizarrely, we did discuss having another annual gig in a couple of months... and perhaps making the annual gig a quarterly thing. It would be strange at leaststuu wrote:Nah. Probably a while off... if memory serves they're roughly an annual thing?

So, is that low alcohol or no alcohol at all? mmmm, no alcohol, do you want to try it? Noooooooooo.

Not that I recommend an outbreak of anal sex among bandmates. The trick is to loosen those stances, not stiffen them.

Thanks for that dude Yeah, there was a lot of stiffness, but I'm sure once we aren't crapping our collective pants, we'll sort that outHot_Grits wrote:Overall good stuff! -Solid timing (and as you know I reckon) that's a big thing.

Interesting comment on the two guitar thing. We are very, very different guitarists, and it's an interesting time getting the styles to mesh together! Something we will certainly work on.

Re: My bands first outing
That was purty darn cool and definitely ten times better than a lot of first outings I have seen.
Like the lead guitar work ... nice stuff and unleash the shred. Liked the songs ... a bit poppy for me ... but totally got all the nuts and bolts there.
Not that I am creepy internet stalker type ... but chicks playing bass are damn sexy.
EDIT *** my wife obviously being the sexiest of them all ... and she plays bass occasionally
