What's with all the anti-Stu stuff?

I've only heard his playing on Satch and Vai albums mind, but I reckons it be pretty good. Is there some other music I should listen to that showcases Stu's underlying secret crapness?

There's a bass solo in that rancid song that was on tony hawke proskater back in the day, and it was great

But I agree, bass solos are maximumly WANG. However, I think upright bass solos are a completly different beast. Because you can't just aim your finger and play on the upright and because it involves so much physical activity, I still find watching and hearing good upright bass solos a treat. My favourite is probably dave holland

Matt Freeman is awesome. I recommend "...and out came the wolves" as an album with some fantastic bass playing, infact its a great album all round.

Jaco, Stanley, Mark, James.

Four first names of bass players you should look up before knocking bass players. I once was a bass player (before I turned to the darkside).

I feel a bass solo is welcome anytime it "fits". Whether it be melodic or slap happy, it is music to my ears!

This is the key, also applies to any instrument though.
I just don't like any music where a bass solo fits.

I just find slapping the most vulgar thing you can do to a bass, off the top of my head, Flea is the only player to make it work, but he uses it in a purposely vulgar way.
