this thread was about lesser known bass players - thats the way I took it - not the same old showier style bass players. Playing bass is much more than playing 'lead' an ocatave down. Its about keeping the band tight, laying down a solid groove, knowing when not to play over a lead guitarist who is doing the aural wanking thing, and also getting the best looking groupies.
So, is that low alcohol or no alcohol at all? mmmm, no alcohol, do you want to try it? Noooooooooo.

Shame on all of you for not once mentioning Jack Bruce and Stanley Clarke!
You can't do THAT on stage!

Pull the other one Rog! - but for the younger guys Jack Bruce = Cream's bassist, Stanley Clarke appeared with just about everybody including Paul Simon (think his is the bass solo on 'Boy in the Bubble' off the Gracelands album).
You can't do THAT on stage!
