Amp assistance

Post by Optimus_prime »

uh I was just wondering
I'm wanting to buy a bass amp that's
big enough to do small gigs on and isn't too
expensive, I'm poor so qaulity for dollar is
very important in this case, I'm looking at no more then 600
any recomendations? I really don't want to fuck this up
because I suck at life

I have a Ibanez soundwave SW65 that I've been holding onto for small gigs because it has a bloody good sound and features. But I'm doing most of our gigs with a full 250 watt head and speaker cabs. Its yours if you want it, I've hardly used it and it was $799 new. Could let you have it for $450 if you're keen - its a great amp for small/medium size gigs and will take an extension cab for more volume.

" Ibanez SoundWave SW65 1-12" 65 watt Electric Bass Guitar Amplifier

This compact amp acts like a big rig with big rig features -active 4-band EQ, Limiter, effects send and return, and line out. The tilt-back design allows optimum angle for best listening position while the closed back cabinet design guarantees good, solid bass. CD input, headphone out is included for practicing purposes. 65 watts, 12" speaker with Piezo tweeter.

Ibanez electronics has done the impossible: satisfied both the price conscious and the sound conscious bass players with a better back-stage bass amp. Kick back and kick some major...on second thought let's not go there. Suffice it to say that Ibanez's new kick-back bass amps take care of business with a butt load of features and an extraordinary amount of power and punch for a bass amp this small in size and price. "
So, is that low alcohol or no alcohol at all? mmmm, no alcohol, do you want to try it? Noooooooooo.

Once again its all subjective. Your tastes and everyone elses may differ widely.

IMO, for $600 you could fine a near-new used Peavey 150W combo bass amp which would do most things you're likely to encounter. I have done several thousand gigs with such an amp and never had a problem. If you can, look for a Black Widow speaker, rather than the Scorpion.

I'd still be using Peavey if it wasn't for two reasons:

1. They are waaaayyy too heavy for me these days
2. The local peavey agents are worse than useless
He hit a chord that rocked the spinet and disappeared into the infinite ...

hmmm I'll be in touch bluesgeek, give me a bit
just so I can orgnise some finances and shit
but it shouldn't be too hard, just a matter of when
and such and yes but hopefully not too far
away, I am very interested

and I'm new in a sense to the amp side of things
so really, I'm a newborn in a sense
and I can be moulded to like whatever really
It'll be a while before what I like shows its face
for now, I'm concentrating on annoying neighbours and such

Well don't forget "Sunshine of your love' bass line classic 'duh duh duh duh, duh, duh, d'duh -silence' - leaving off that last note really gets 'em after and hour or two; mate! LOL
You can't do THAT on stage!
