Bit of Rog's work for ya!
In 1974, I found a Fender Jazzbass pickup lounging in a music shop somewhere and decided that what my '72 Precision really needed was another pup. Now, being impatient and possessing very few woodworking tools, I took to my Precision with a power drill and a screwdriver used as a chisel, with my pliers used as a hammer and 'carved' (euphemistically) a slot for the J pup. (Adrian, that's the repair you did for me when you refinned). Of course the J pup was too long, so had to sit in there on an angle, as seen in the only pic I have of this. You can see by the ashtrays being on the bass that at that time I used a pick exclusively.
I eventually wired the bass in stereo and ran it through initially 2 channels of the same amp and afterwards, through 2 amps, most famously through 2 full Marshall 100W stacks (that's 4 quads and 2 heads)(Oh the shame!).
Soundwise, it was bloody nice!!
You can see the pup if you look closely in this pic:
The cab was another of my home builds and was an excellent cab with a brilliant sound. 1 x JBL k145 with a carefully ported opening to the throat. I formed the throat with 14 gauge sheet steel, then lined it with bright white Formica. It weighed rather a lot, but you could have driven a truck over it, cos it was STRONG! I think the solid construction had a lot to do with its solid sound.
The guitar stand was another home-made special, formed from 1/4" steel, braised and painted. Popping to the RS to get such things wasn't an option in New Plymouth in those days.
That amp is, I think (sorry about the photo) a Holden 50W head. I'm a bit tentative about that, because through the '60s and '70s I seemed to have a new amp every couple of months. The best of those was not the Marshalls, but a Fender 400PS (you might have to Google that one!). The PS was one HEAVY smegger!!
The pic was taken at the Bell Block Hotel, where we had residency for many years.
Anyway, that's just a little bit of my history which I thought I'd share. I hope its not too boring for y'all.

Nice work there. The ol necessity and the ma of invention happenin aye? I too love mucking round at home on such things. Although I dont know if I could bring myself to attack a 72 vintage instrument pliers and chisel.
