I realise that I'm so ancient that I'm irrelevant to these things, but here's just some of my fav bass work songs:
Beware old fart songs ahead!

I used to play them all in various bands, but now.. I just reminisce.

And this is the one that started it all for me:

Favourite bass lead ever. Andy Fraser picks up the band and carries the whole thing on his shoulders. Such fucking power and... grace.

I also find it sad how the people that usually filmed them had no idea what was happening (the way they keep filming Kossoff even though he's not doing the lead)

"Vince, have you ever tried playing an expensive bass?" - Polarbear.
"And isn't that the finest acoustic bass guitar feedback solo you've ever heard?" - Billy Moose.

wasn't great
There are still some that think the neck PU is moved to accommodate the extra frets which only proves they cannot detect the difference in length of each.

Gov't Mule - Don't Step on the Grass Sam from the Live at Roseland album. Allen Woody on bass. It has a fantastic hook.

We’re waaay too deep into this thread to not have had “I want you back” by the Jackson 5! (Incredible bass by Wilton Felder)

Tony Levin on Peter Gabriel “Don’t give up” is a nice one too
