Bass practice amp suggestions?

I haven't had any guitars at home over lockdown, so have started playing some bass.

I have been finding it relatively enjoyable, so I am looking to get a practice amp in the $4 - 600 range.

What would you recommend?

I really rate Fender Rumbles. I would get the biggest one you can on the second-hand market. I sold my Rumble 500 for $700 earlier this year, but anything smaller than that should be within your budget.

Second vote for Fender Rumble amps. When I saw The Chats last month they were using them live which I thought was cool as last time I saw them it was Ampeg gear.

I have a Rumble 25, which is more than enough for home use.

If you're happy lurking Trademe for a month or two you'll often be able to get hold of a Rumble 40 for $250-300. They have 4 band EQ and a line out, so quite a bit more feature-rich than the 15 and 25 models.

Rumbles are the way to go. They're unsettling light, reliable and sound pretty good.

Thanks folks. It looks like the Rumble is a safe bet.

I think they're pretty much based on Genz Benz amps, which were always great mid-range options.

Yep, I use a Rumble also, and it's very competent.

I use the wee baby Rumble15.
Good enough for lounging practice.

Made in Indonesia
I think I paid $60 for it New. Or maybe it was Fly Buys
It can actually handle a Low B string which surprised me.

Love the Rumbles myself. I gig often with a Rumble 500 which addresses most of my requirements. EQ settings flat and we're good to go.
It even has a headphone jack for at home practise! :-)

Thanks again everyone. I ordered a Rumble 40 today.

It looks like it will do everything I need for now.

Fingers crossed for a speedy delivery.
