I'll go for ZZ Top :)
I was going to nominate Slade, Wizzard, The Sweet, Mud, Gary Glitter and the Glitter Band, Roxy Music, The Bee Gees, etc, etc, but I doubt any of those brilliant bands is going to win me a pack of strings (for each of my guitars  ).
Dude, you're getting dangerously close to having a lot in common with me. Still got your platforms?
Somewhere I'm sure I do. I know my elder brother still has a few pairs lying around that I could borrow. 1970’s glam rock is one of my musical passions, but I also like the unspeakable mid-70’s stuff and poncey New Wave too.

[Edit: I wanted to play 3rd drum chair for Gary when I grew up! Still haven't grown up, but unfortunately Gary's turned into a bit of a sad case these days. Not sure the glitter suit would suit me now either...if I could fit into it. ]

My god to chose only one band. Well i am going to have to say Tool but i doubt they will win me a brand new pack of strings. So Tool it is for me. Someone else better nominate Metallica or i'll be very angry and spam.

but unfortunately Gary's turned into a bit of a sad case these days.
that may be a bit of an under-exaggeration....
So, is that low alcohol or no alcohol at all? mmmm, no alcohol, do you want to try it? Noooooooooo.

That's giving him full benefit of the doubt for just being a foolish sad bastard.

Hahaaa. Not just in the same ball park, we've got adjoining front row seats. :D

I can't quite bring myself to look at the mid seventies again. A bit too swamped in corporate rock but the beginning and the end are a riot.

And I am deadly serious about Mott the Hoople. Tell me a more complete rock song than All the Young Dudes. Sublime hooks. Mental chord sequence. Ronson on guitar. Great lyrics, almost perfect social comment in a bubblegum wrapper. Still relevant today. I know they didn't write it but they own it.
Back that up with dirty little rock songs like All the way from Memphis and Once Bitten, Twice Shy. More crazy hooks and chord progressions. Great fun to play.

Shame about Gary Glitter. Doing GG covers has started to feel a bit icky.

No problem with Mott, can't see them reaching the second round though :(

I can't really give somebody the benefit of the doubt who was arrested, prosecuted and pleaded guilty to 54 charges of possessing child porn, though he had 4000 images stored on his computer. "The judge, Mr Justice Butterfield, described the pictures in Glitter's vast library as "filthy and revolting" and of the "worst possible type". involving "very young children, some appeared as young as two, in the main ranging from three, four, five and six up to possibly about nine or 10".
So, is that low alcohol or no alcohol at all? mmmm, no alcohol, do you want to try it? Noooooooooo.

Well argued. It seems we have an early leader.

Sick, but then there are plenty of sick folks roaming the streets. Lots will have downloaded porn, and while hopefully not child porn, it could still get one into a lot of trouble. Not sure what judges say to justify their actions sways me much. And while Gary seems to have compounded his problems, I think there's still a little room for the benefit of the doubt as to whether he knowingly took his apparent sexual attraction to children into the real world. Yeah, I might be kidding myself, but while there's still some room for manoeuvre, I'm going to extend it, because he's provided pleasure to a lot of people.
