I know... that's the internet for you, eh? No matter how obscure you are, someone, somewhere has heard of you! :D

And if anyone's written about you (including you yourself), search engines make you as easy to read about as Jimmy Page.
I guess the intent of the thread was more around under-recognised guitarists, rather than just obscure or personal faves. The forum is full of mentions of not-so-mainstream players that don't get a lot of magazine or internet love, not too much signature gear etc. It was really around seeing what love there was for guys that aren't Zakk, Jimi, Jimmy, Satch, Vai, Petrucci, Eddie, etc - all the name-check guitarists.

I don't see too many local players in here either! And I thought I'd add Laurence Juber to my pile of truly, truly under-rateds...

+ another. I was actually about to check to see if he'd been mentioned, as I reminded myself about him last night. Great tone, and lovely understated but cool rhythm and lead work that really elevates the songs.

I'm really not sure,

His site says he is active in the Wellington jazz scene, but also that he teaches at Canterbury Uni. Maybe he moves around?

Leigh is still in Wellington, he teaches privately (he's taught a who's who of wellington guitarists, anyone who's anyone who went through Jazz school has been to Leigh.. but he's a motherfucker at more than just jazz haha. He can play pretty much everything) I definitely rate him.

Don't forget Nick Granville or Dixon Nacey, those guys are great too. Nick and Leight are in a jazz quartet that specializes in French Gypsy Jazz, they play out quite often (no pun intended  )

awesome picks Frey, do you like Voom? :)

Dave Holmes and Paul McLaney. I know these two get next to no love on here and this is only the 68th time I've mentioned them but they really are very good. Taste before chops, they could have been bass players their that good.
