I'm from Napier, well Whangarei born, but spent 80% of my life in Napier. Many good musicians come out of the area, have some pride! :D

Last year I was handed the amazing opportunity to join my heroes on stage and guest on extra guitar duties for this song at a sold out show at the Tuning Fork.

Almost bombed it before the big distortion section  I was expecting 2x cues on the vocal and then dive into it, but had to hold off a bit longer - phew! Did OK considering we had 1 blat through at soundcheck and that was it.

I gotta say, standing in the centre of that triangle on stage was the best way to experience this band. On stage sound quality and sheer volume was UNREAL.

Gat is a USA Deluxe Tele.... Area-T neck (all ambient stuff) and Joe Barden Modern-T bridge (all gainy stuff). Pedals were.... a Reg fuzz on the intro with Ebow, various delays and reverb (Hardwire Delay, Neunaber Wet, Strymon BlueSky) and Friedman BE-OD Deluxe for the big gainy shit. Oh, through a Mesa Electra Dyne clean channel (4x6L6) and Recto vertical 2x12 sitting edge of stage, off-camera. The soundie knew to mix me low and just add me in as extra spice. Was perfect!

Aye! Jeff is a massive fan of the humble Digitech DigiDelay too - due to the strength of the repeat he once told me.

And the hotcake with his broken ibanez filter pedal which is the core of the Jakob wall of noise, I got a similar sound with a flanger and the hotcake, was glorious!
