Oops... why? Because the word of God is boring? ;)

Comrade, do you doubt the final victory?
God is not boring, but many churches are. Incredibly so. And it does God a dis-service, because He is represented as being boring and stuffy, which He isn't. He also isn't a hipster, but He probably does listen to U2.

God is definitely not boring, anyone who repeatedly commits acts of mass genocide must have quite a personality ;)

There's other sorts of worship music though. You know, the stuff that doesn't worship Him per se.

The heaviest

But also:

"What'll you do when you get lonely
And nobody's waiting by your side?
You've been running and hiding much too long.
You know it's just your foolish pride.

[Chorus]
Layla, you've got me on my knees.
Layla, I'm begging, darling please.
Layla, darling won't you ease my worried mind.

I tried to give you consolation
When your old man had let you down.
Like a fool, I fell in love with you,
Turned my whole world upside down.

Layla, you've got me on my knees.
Layla, I'm begging, darling please.
Layla, darling won't you ease my worried mind.

Let's make the best of the situation
Before I finally go insane.
Please don't say I'll never find a way
And tell me all my love's in vain.

Layla, you've got me on my knees.
Layla, I'm begging, darling please.
Layla, darling won't you ease my worried mind....."

Sounds like a worship song to me. Just substitute "Layla" for "Jesus" and you've got the Christian version.

I think Son House put it best, now this is a worship song:

Yes, I'm gonna get me religion
I'm gonna join the Baptist Church
Yes, I'm gonna get me religion
I'm gonna join the Baptist Church
You know I wanna be a Baptist preacher
Just so I won't have to work

One deacon jumped up and he began to grin
One deacon jumped up and he began to grin
You know he said, "One thing, elder I believe
I'll go back to barrelhousin' again"

One sister jumped up and she began to shout
One sister jumped up and she began to shout
"You know I'm glad this corn liquor's goin' out"

Another deacon jumped up and said, "Why don't ya hush?"
Another deacon jumped up and said, "Why don't ya hush?
You know you drink corn liquor and your lie's a horrible stink"

One sister jumped up and she began to shout
One sister jumped up and she began to shout
"I believe I can tell y'all what it's all about"

Another sister jumped up, she said, "Why don't ya hush?"
Another sister jumped up, she said, "Why don't ya hush?
You know he's abandoned, and you outta hush your fuss"

I was in the pulpit, I's jumpin' up and down
I was in the pulpit, I's jumpin' up and down
My sisters in the corner, they're hollerin' Alabama bound

Grabbed up my suitcase and I took off down the road
Grabbed up my suitcase and I took off down the road
I said, "Farewell church, may the good Lord bless your soul"

You know I wish I had a heaven of my own
You know I wish I had a heaven of my own
I'd give all my women a good ole happy home

I'm gonna preach these blues
And I'm gonna choose my seat and sit down
I'm gonna preach these blues
And I'm gonna choose my seat and sit down
But, when the Spirit comes, I want you to

Great song. I first heard The Answer version of it, and I wondered where the hell they came up with the song. Bit of investigation led me to the Son House version :)
