Excellent call there.

He apparently got majorly screwed by the record industry so upped and left. I think he lives in Italy and does club gigs under the name Sananda Maitreya. Super talented dude. I think he wrote all the songs and played all the instruments on that album too!

What about Living Colour - Vivid?

ooh, and not a guitar album but, "the hardline according to Terance Trent D'arby"
I kinda loved Vivid for a long time, but I've finally hit a point where I'm starting to feel that it's not aging as well.
Yeah, 'Time's up' still sounds great but some of the tracks on Vivid do sound pretty dated now. I've actually stayed with Living Colour all the way through to their reunion albums but 'Time's Up' is still their best imho.

Thanks for the reminder. I've been meaning to listen to him as Richie Kotzen cites him as as big influence vocally, which gets top marks from me.

I read about how the record company got a bit stroppy with him when they heard his NEXT album, Neither Fish Nor Flesh, and deciding that record companies = bad guys I bought a copy off eBay and played it. Well, I played some of it. Just that one time. It was totally shit and the record company had been right.

It wasn't that it was kind of weird and unfocussed, it was just that it was weird and unfocussed, and totally shit.

He seems to have eventually pulled out of that particular tailspin. I really hope so, because I kind of like him.

Karma To Burn.

Depending on how you like the band, you can argue it's either their greatest (next couple releases were instrumental, new singer after that... I dunno, not the same!), or their worst ("there should be no singing to sully the stringwork here!")

Black Sabbath: Black Sabbath.
Humble Pie: As safe as yesterday is.
The Clash: London Calling.
Massive Attack. Blue Lines.
MC5. Kick out the jams.
The Meters. The Meters.

VH1 is a killer debut but I like what came later more. Wasn't old enough to feel the impact that first record had when it was new.

Has anyone mentioned 'Kill 'em all? -best thing they did AKAIC. Then again I'm more an expert Metallica avoider than any kind of Metallica expert.
