Yeah as a player I rate him higher!

I like his phrasing. I can try to play with restraint but it doesn't sound engaging the way his playing does. Maybe I'm just bored of my playing (or it's just boring).

I saw this video and it really stood out. It's a very melodic solo. GnR did well with Buckethead, as the Slash solos were a hard act to follow.

He's been a massive inspiration for me. I have tried to take elements of his playing and incorporate them into mine, with almost no success whatsoever, but that has still changed my approach to playing significantly.

Plus he indirectly was the reason why I got to borrow Slowy's Korinacaster for a bit, which similarly affected my playing, in a good way.

Yup, great player. I am trying to learn his cover of Eagles' Take It To The Limit. His style looks simple but, with my limited skills and experience, it's bloody challenging.

On a scale of 0 to 1 I'd give John one.

He's incredible. But I'm not a huge fan of the YouTube star thing.

Tasty, and there's of that YT produced stuff out there and it's often amazingly clever. But I think to myself, "would I buy the vinyl of that to listen to at home" and the answer is pretty much always "nope".

I can appreciate the technical aspects, and phrasing (as per Molly), also the tone...

It's a bit like the super model versus the cute quirky...
