That's a heap of awesome!

Strangely enough, from a purely aesthetic point of view, I like the '51 the best personally!!

I was oggling a few of those they had in the Rockshop between quakes a while back and they looked lovely, the ones I looked at were thinner than I was expecting but they looked comfortable to play (which I didn't as I was only in to collect some bits and pieces and didn't have time to really mess around.

How thick or thin is the body on yours? What does it feel like compared to your custom?
Thanks J. Yeah this is the thin one, there are the "Full Thickness" models, which are IIRC a 55m depth, but I have a big fat ass LP for that sort of weight

I'll post in-depth thoughts but so far, feel and body balance etc are fairly convincingly LP-ish. Sounds like EMGs, but I'm sure some subtleties of tone will become apparent once I play it more.

Surprisingly loud acoustically, which is cool. And the fit and finish is insanely precise. The inlays are super tight, etc.

Of course, the Custom feels more "substantial" due to full LP weighty-ness, but the Eclipse seems like it'd be a great alternative on nights where I don't want to kill my back...

The main difference other than the pickups and thickness will be woods used. Your custom will quite likely have a maple top and maple neck (take off the truss rod cover and have a look at the wood underneath if it's unpainted you might be able to tell) the ESP will probably have a mahogany neck and will sound more like the LP Classic you had.

Mmm are you sure? I seem to remember reading that by '87 they had gone back to mahogany necks for the Customs. After the Norlin era and all that.

It'll be at the Tronfest if you want to cop a feel. I'm just barely resisting some fairly strong spousal pressure to sell it at the moment. Not going to list it any time soon but offers will be entertained.

put me on the list then... I'll be at the tron fest, though I won't have much gear with me due to the nature of the new vehicle, though compact gear fits surprisingly well :)
