How is power getting to the LEDs? Something running through the Truss rod channel or something?

Exactly :-)

I now have an external battery for the led because it drains pretty quick.

I Put a 9v dc power jack next to the input jack

Ok, still trying to get my head round this....did the fingerboard have to come off at all? I'm actually contemplating doing this to a 7 string because........it can obviously be done.

Yes, the original fretboard had to come off and be replaced.

I sent it to christopher woods..

google him.. i think his site is christopherwoodsguitar.com

The wires run under the fretboard into the pot cavity under the pickups.

It used to have the battery in the cavity.. but its really annoying to change.. so i made an external battery box with a rechargeable 9V battery and put a 9V power plug end on it, and the demale plug into the guitar next to the jack..

I'll take some detailed photos when i get home and upload them, along with pics of my whole collection :)

and @ Edward

Amazing for playing on stage. the side dots are fibre optic cable that runs to the LED so they're lit on the side too.

And they switch between green or blue.

if you do what I did and get it custom made then it just gets made to fit, which is what I had done - I'm no luthier and i dont know the in depth process to re-fretboarding a guitar.. but it is doable to any guitar :-)

just have to find an experienced person.
