A lot of people pan those early 70's Strats, but i've always liked them. Probably from when I was a fan of early John Frusciante Chili Peppers.

If you get pre 74, you can get light weight bodies, older pickup style, reasonably good fit n finish. That one was light and had a huge ringing sound both unplugged and amplified. I swapped it for something...and then sold the something. Which I should be farking shot for...oh the humanity! :crybaby:

I've got somewhere between 11-15, I drum as well, but have fewer cymbals than guitars, just.

5 electrics and an acoustic. I've just kind of ended up with that amount, not because I've tried to build a collection or anything. I only play one really, but nothing is of any significant value, so I wouldn't really gain much by selling the others.

I've long since realised that chasing the holy grail of guitars doesn't make me play or sound any better than any well set-up mid-range guitar with decent pickups, so have decided to waste my money elsewhere.
Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and he'll spend thousands on fishing equipment he'll use for a bit, then get bored and move onto something else.

There's a lot of truth in that... relates to a lot of other pursuits too... i.e. the $20,000 jap turbo thats faster and possibly more fun than a $250,000 BMW...

I do miss my '62 reissue USA strat though, there were things I hated about it i.e. small frets etc, but the wood was quality... definitely didn't make me play any better though... Its amazing how good a mid-price guitar can be when set-up well and like you say upgraded pickups etc...

I really wish I could be one of those players that only had one guitar, but I would struggle to do without 2 electrics - for strat / humbucker sounds.

Pretty content now that I've found what I really like. Frets are getting a hammering.
