Alnico II pros. I'm not much of a humbucker connoisseur, but I liked them. The neck pickup didn't seem to have the muddiness that LP neck pickups can have.Edward wrote:It has duncans but I don't remember which type.

Re: NGD ESP Edwards Les Paul Jimmy Page model
Was playing this today in a place with a lot of natural light (next time should take some pics) anyway it really brought out what that nitro finish and aging look like. Looking down at the neck whilst playing, with the aged yellowy binding and imperfections I was thinking "I'd swear this guitar looks 40 years old"
It has a different tone to the vintage white one. I guess because of the lighter body, the SH5 instead of SH4, and the rosewood board, as opposed to the ebony on the white one. It's a nice change. Very enjoyable to play.

Re: NGD ESP Edwards Les Paul Jimmy Page model
A funny thing happened on the way to the office.
I noticed that I am starting to get wear marks/rash...where the relic'ing is! (on the back).
One thing I can tell you from this - there is no poly under the nitro-cellulose coat. Wears straight to the wood.
Does this mean I am playing just like Jimmy? I just need to get a bow now so I can add to the marks down on the cutaway of the body.
I found out through reading some forums that all the Page models are lighter than the other Edwards Les Pauls. Dunno why they did that, but it sure makes it fun when you use it - you can swing it around a lot more like a rock star.
I actually feel that my Edwards custom might be a slightly better guitar - quite a lot heavier, and I think it's recorded sound may be a bit better, dunno whether the ebony neck maybe makes a difference? - but this page guitar is still so much fun that I'm preferring it over the custom, for the moment anyway.

Light guitars are more fun, I find heavy ones distract me too much, have you put both of yours on the scales?

Re: NGD ESP Edwards Les Paul Jimmy Page model
If I had some scales I would.
He weighed the page edwards before selling it to me and said it is 3.55kg / 7.81lb
The 08 custom is noticeably heavier, and like I said earlier, it did a hurtees to my shoulder when i first started using it. I wonder where I could weigh it accurately?

I got some digital scales (part of an idea to monitor my weight in the quest to lose some) so I will see if the Edwards custom fits on them, to weigh it.

Re: NGD ESP Edwards Les Paul Jimmy Page model
The Page Edwards weighed 3.5kg and the Edwards custom weighed 4.1kg.
That 0.6kg makes the custom feel way heavier (I know that seems like stating the obvious, but what I mean is, the 2 feel like 'different worlds' when you pick them up, in terms of weight). One feels feather light to me, and the other feels really noticeably heavy.
