Re: Beautiful nitro wear
Maybe but I also think they're often works of art in their own right. Good relic work requires skill and its nice to see the product of skillful hands. What the end user thinks of and does with it is a separate matter.

Re: Beautiful nitro wear
That was a point I was trying to make in my first post on the thread, albeit clumsily. Massed produced relicing can be really nasty and seems to be aimed at the cashing in on the market trend. But some relicing and aging done by the experts is amazing and quite convincing. It could really influence how you feel about playing the thing and therefore the music you play with it.Molly wrote:Maybe but I also think they're often works of art in their own right. Body was highway 1. Neck is an early 2000s mexi. SD antiquity pickups. All hardwired by me in as close to vintage spec as i could get on a limited budgetNippleWrestler wrote:is that a highway 1 strat? They came with super thin nitro finishes.
Re: Beautiful nitro wear
My #1 '96 Strat has natural dings and chunks of wood missing from being thrown numerous times out of my bedroom window and dragged across a stage or two.
Makes for an interesting talking point.

Frustration?
Cats rutting on the lawn?
Infidelity?
Running from the law?

Naaa. They'd buy the genuine vintage stuff. The relics are for mere mortals that can't afford the genuine article.H671 wrote:+1willow13 wrote:but is still a cash in aimed at the rich listersAquila Rossa wrote:But some relicing and aging done by the experts is amazing and quite convincing

Maybe stop thinking of it as a representation of age and instead as just another finish option.willow13 wrote:how do you explain relic suhrMolly wrote:Naaa. They'd buy the genuine vintage stuff. The relics are for mere mortals that can't afford the genuine article.H671 wrote: +1![]()
