I haven't reached double figures yet. But every time I go to count them, I get distracted by my Supermodel who begs me to stroke her curvaceous body and caress her slender neck and make sweet music together.... Sorry, what were we talking about again?

BTW Slowie, they don't use polyester! PRS naturally has it's own secret formulation that allows the wood to breathe like nitro, but is much more resilient.

Re: Another addition to the PRS family
That red McCarty trem with two P90s was originally 'new' at Greenlane Musical sounds/Musicworks. I picked it off the wall there one evening during a rehearsal on the shop floor. Had a couple of rehearsals there. As you can probably imagine, rehearsing in a guitar store with the stock at your disposal is FUN.
I later saw it turn up at Welly Rockshop. So if it indeed was 'NOS' by the time it got there I guess it must have gone back to the importer after Greenlane. They did have some stock they couldn't move, including an early spruce topped hollowbody. I remember the red McCarty had some wear by the time it was in Welly.
Interesting guitar. Good spec, but seemed a bit dead. I'm not one of those people who consider PRS guitars to all be a bit lifeless but this one was a bit flat. Maybe it's woken up up with a bit of play.

Right. I stand corrected then.Conway wrote:BTW Slowie, they don't use polyester! PRS naturally has it's own secret formulation that allows the wood to breathe like nitro, but is much more resilient.

I think Slowie likes Red more than me, but I'm fairly sure neither of us would call it dead or flat. I don't think it's showing much wear either.
I wonder if the Spruce top hollowbody is the one that a forum member in New Plymouth has?

Two things make me think it's not the same guitar:Hot_Grits wrote:That red McCarty trem with two P90s was originally 'new' at Greenlane Musical sounds/Musicworks. 1. It's mint. (Or was I pissed, Conway?)
2. It might not fog up a mirror, but it sure ain't dead. Lively little fecker, all stroppy and eager.

Re: Another addition to the PRS family
This one had a mahogany body (no maple top), P90s and a trem. It was, according to the PRS forum I showed it off on, a very rare configuration. When I bought it ('new') it was totally unmarked. In fact, it was unmarked when I sold it on (maybe some plec swirl).

Wonder what the odds are of the importer bringing two red mahogany Mctrems into the country are? -Low, I'd reckon.Molly wrote:This one had a mahogany body (no maple top), P90s and a trem. The wear I remember when I saw it in Welly was mainly tarnishing on the bridge saddles. Nothing serious. I think the low E saddle was showing through to brass.
The deadness thing is all relative. PRS don't make duds. It just wasn't as lively as other PRS guitars I've played, including the CU22 I used to own. It struck me because I've tended to find all mahogany/P90 guitars to generally be pretty exciting to play even unplugged, and at that point I hadn't played a PRS that hadn't impressed me.

This is the guitar about which Matt said: "I remember that guitar well. It was in stock for a LONG time back when I used to work in our stores. It was freakin incredible."
Also there's no tarnishing on the bridge saddles and certainly one's not through to brass. So might you have your guitars mixed up somewhere along the line HG???
