Hahaha usually guitar manufacturers are dealing with customers who complain when anybody MENTIONS the words "CNC machine". The usual guitar player reaction is "They were SOOO much better when they used to handmake them".
Interesting (and refreshingly cool) to see borge's post above being a proponent of manufacturing excellence in the guitar building industry. Nice.
But for the purposes of the conversation... IMHO, it doesn't matter whether they manufacture it with paper clips, silly putty and a Dora the Explorer compass; it's the end result that counts.....and the end result is that PRS make objectively outstanding guitars....with consistently excellent quality.

Re: No Suhrprise to anyone - but here it is!
Well, this thread has been interesting reading. That is one beauty of a guitar Ed, I'd be very stoked to own that. Congrats.
Interesting about the PRS' getting better with the times, which when I think about it does make sense. I have a 2001 Singlecut, which is a beautiful guitar, then you take a look at some of the more recent stuff and its pretty amazing work. I was mentioning to someone the other day how crazy it is that you can sell LP Standards secondhand for around the $2.5k mark piece of piss, but I couldnt give the Singlecut away for quite a lot less than that. Obviously the brand names and whatever are attached to that, but the price tag of an LP to that same spec would sky rocket.

People want to buy the guitar used by their heroes... Slash and Jimmy Page vs Creed, Nickleback and Linkin Park.

Yep I quite agree. Though I currently view my PRS as my "Slash" guitar; dark burst and zebra pickupsjimi wrote:People want to buy the guitar used by their heroes... Slash and Jimmy Page vs Creed, Nickleback and Linkin Park.

Suhr gear seems to attract technically proficient players, that's for sure. But more on the rock/fusion side of things.
Too bad owning a Suhr doesn't automagically grant you those skills, as I unfortunately found out.

Don't forget Scott Henderson...
Plenty of session guys use them too, they are more widely used than a lot of people realise.

Everything they make will be the same quality, measurements etc. No HUMAN error.

CNC relies on pre cut slabs that fit into the cutting space.
Hand made implies a slower and more thoughtful process.

There are still some that think the neck PU is moved to accommodate the extra frets which only proves they cannot detect the difference in length of each.

Great looking instrument. I'm also a fan of their headstocks -- I don't get the dislike for them.

that are prone to human errors....as someone who builds 95% of their own guitars the human errors kill me with each build, but it is also what makes them "mine"...I am so conflicted right nowmrmofo wrote: Hand made implies a slower and more thoughtful process.

to me these modern "super guitars" fall into the same group as the bootique amps/pedal/ what ever the fuck is "in"....all probably great but give me meat and potatoes any say. But then i'm a cheap ass so what ever
