Re: Show Us Your Guitar
It, um, "was" an Alf doll...actually, it was actually Alf (now decapitated, I think)....but I looked after my sisters dog for a weekend...nuff said. And it didn't come from me...had enough of those 21st Century Fox reps knocking at my door regarding an Alf "return to form gig",missing alien etc etc....
The amps are easy I reckon....find one or three that suit your needs and that's it. This Deluxe works for me. Guitars are another matter...I could have 50 and keep looking...wait a minute.,..
This 1968 SG has not a solder broken, a switch changed, original case in exc cond....except it had two screw holes in the back (don't ask me....how I found it)! Repaired now but takes it out of stratosphere/weightless Sg pricing and down to mere upper atmosphere...I am loving SG's more and more, but finding old ones harder and harder to find (even ex USA). What I really would like is a 60's SG Special - anyone out there with one for sale, original nick, gimme a call. P-90's are of course, the shizzle...and old P-90's are the shizzle w/binding.

And this one has been posted before, but I think we all need some more Gretsch in our lives....

Re: Show Us Your Guitar
Picked up my new koa/spruce parlor guitar today. Woo hoo!
I bought it from Ed at Cadenza guitars. He was perfectly lovely to deal with too and put up with my two hours of playing (probably right through his lunch come to think of it) before I made my mind up definitively. Then told me to call or email if I had any questions.
I must have left my pick there darn it all! (I only own two and I only liked that pink one) Oh well, not like I use it very often anyway. Also forgot to take him up on the new set of strings. Doh! This is what I get for having such a long drive starting at five am.
If I werent so tired from the drive I'd post a picture. You'll have to wait on that though for now.
Every time we drive all the way to the city I swear I will never do it again.
I'm SO glad to be home!

Its not enough that we succeed, we still need others to fail
Re: Show Us Your Guitar
I also got the original gig bag with it and he threw in a hard case. He was really, really nice. I played for just over two hours because I wanted to be sure and he also demo'd it for me so I could stand back and have a listen.
The price was reasonable as well...I did a lot of research on this guitar. I could MAYBE have "past participle of get" a similar model for cheaper, but not in koa. So I was happy. Hubby is NOT happy over the speeding ticket...but he was driving.
I am forbidden from mentioning said ticket ever.

Re: Show Us Your Guitar
I also forgot to take him up on the free strings, too much excitement at the check out. Damn! I think it still has the ORIGINAL elixers on it.
Gotta hand it to him, that guitar is a 2001 model and I could only find a tiny scratch on it. It's in terrific shape!

Re: Show Us Your Guitar
Ok, no scratches, must have been a hair.
Anywhere, here is the photo before I put new strings on.

Left to right, 1938 all birch Harmony I am working on (need to finish the saddle and finish next and set it up.)
The Larrivee koa/spruce P-01, 2001.
Art and Lutherie Ami with laminated b/s (maple cherry three ply) and cedar top, 2006.
