Favourite Pedals/Ones you want
Hi all,
Trust you're well. Anyway, no doubt this topic has been done a few times before but I'm always interested in what pedals people are using and what you like about them. Also, what pedals do you want to add to your arsenal?
I'm currently using:
Boss DS-2 Distortion, Boss FZ-5 Fuzz, some random old wah pedal that I can't identify and a Black Russian Big Muff. Wanting to get a Tremolo pedal as well...Will probably just go for the Danelectro Cool Cat Trem for now because of the bang for buck, then upgrade when I can afford to. The Big Muff is probably my favourite - I just really dig the range of sounds it can produce. Pretty nice variety! I don't know a heck of a lot regarding the tech side of it though.
Anyway, how bout yours? Feel free to show us some pics.

Re: Favourite Pedals/Ones you want
I really love my Relik Old Dog, because it was the first pedal I ever built, and it sounded amazing right away. The original Bluesbreaker design was a little toppy so I tweaked the tone range, again something I'm kinda proud of. It's perfect for SRV Texas blues stuff, but it's also really great as a transparent medium gain for getting that 'pushed amp' sound on big chords.
My other favourite is my Cusack Tap-a-whirl V3, because it took me ages to find a tremolo pedal I really liked, and this one is the biz, a really nice upgrade from the previous version. I especially love that I can use it to tap in the delay time on my DD20. Freaky.
I have a soft spot for my USA made Vox Wah, because it's the one I've had the longest, and it works for me.
I'll also add that I had a Hot Cake briefly, and at home it was the most amazing drive pedal I've ever tried, but for some bizzarre reason it didn't work for me at all when I played out. I've just sold it, but it still rates as one of the most impressive pedals I've used - in the right enviroment/rig.

hey Jimmy. if you're looking for pics of pedals, have a search for "show us your pedalboard". there's a comprehensive thread on that... not sure how much is listed about 'want to get' in there though.

mr_sooty - Nice! The tremolo must have cost a fair bit I imagine! Just had a look at one online - They look pretty sweet, bet they sound sweet too! I've been eyeing up a Vox Wah myself - How do you find it in comparison to other wah's? No problems or anything?
rocklander - Sorry about that, you're right.

Yep, the TAW is pricey, but Crushing Day at guitarparts.co.nz gives a discount for forumites. I foolishly bought it from a guy in OZ, and it ended up costing me about the same as it would have to get it from CD. No problems with the Vox Wah, although I had to mod mine to take an adaptor without adding extra noise, as mine has no adaptor input. The new ones do though, so no issues there. The new ones are only $149 too. Some people say the Vox is too toppy at the high end of the sweep, but I don't find that at all. Sounds perfect to me. I had a Cry Baby before, but prefer the more Vintage sweep of the Vox.Jimmy V wrote:mr_sooty - Nice! The tremolo must have cost a fair bit I imagine! Re: Favourite Pedals/Ones you want
Haha hate it when that happens! Oh well, at least it's doing the job for you. I must say, I haven't tried the vox wah but will give it a go next time. The wah I have at the moment looks like a cheapy..Something about it just doesn't sound right but it's ok for now. For the kind of music I like to play, the vintage sound of the vox might be just what I'm after. I never really used effects but I've bought a couple over the last 6 months and keep finding myself on trademe looking for more haha. I'm gonna have to cut myself off at some point so I can save for a better amp.

Re: Favourite Pedals/Ones you want
It depends what you want out of a Trem pedal but I 'downgraded' from a Tap-A-Whirl to a Coolcat and didn't lose anything I needed
My favourite has been a Cusack Screamer for a long time. I keep having foolish thoughts about selling it but I always resist
Will be getting a Sansamp British in the next couple of weeks, its the only pedal that has me gassing.

Yeah I figure you can't go wrong with the Cool Cat for the price. I mean - $70?! I don't mind a cheap pedal if it's got the goods. True bypass so they say as well.BG wrote:It depends what you want out of a Trem pedal but I 'downgraded' from a Tap-A-Whirl to a Coolcat and didn't lose anything I needed

Ahh the british - Had a look at a demo for that. Sounds lush! They're about $300-350 aren't they? I'm too cheap to pay that for a pedal haha. Although if I had the cash...

Re: Favourite Pedals/Ones you want
The best pedal I own would have to be my Blackstar HT Dual. It sounds so good, I've questioned the need for anything but a clean channel on my amp. The only thing that could make it better would be if I could switch channels on it with an external switch. At the moment I'm using it with a Maxon 808 in front into the clean channel of my Electra-Dyne as my modern metal sound- and it's HUGE! It has more than enough gain on it's own, but the Maxon just tightens things up a bit.

Current favourite is my T-Rex Mudhoney which I've had for ages now.
As soon as I pick up a strat I'll be getting an RC Booster though, those things are amazing with strats

Re: Favourite Pedals/Ones you want
I only have an EHX Metal Muff, Dunlop Wylde Wah and Boss Super Chorus, but I really like all of them. The MM just has such a range to it, and the chorus fattens things up in a way that I really dig. The wah is just for fun really.
I really want a Morpheus Drop Tune now after seeing the thread on it the other day. I also fancy a delay and I'm getting interested in an envelope filter.

Jeez, some pretty epic gear guys! It's mint when you find ones that work perfectly for what you're after.
I bought the Cool Cat Trem today. Bought it before work though so I was sitting there for 5 hours just amping to get home and try it out. Tourture. Sounds sweet!

I want an EHX Deluxe Memory Boy. And I will have one, even though I already have two or three delays.
And I want an Earthquaker Tone Reaper! And I want an EHX HOG! And I want an Oompa Loompa! I want you to get me an Oompa Loompa right away!

Re: Favourite Pedals/Ones you want
I heard the HT-DIST demo from PGS last night. I think I'll try one out. It'd have to be killer to take up that much space on my board, though it may just be...Basket Case wrote:The best pedal I own would have to be my Blackstar HT Dual. My favorite pedal? -I dunno. I really like most of my board. You don't want to be the dad that tells one kid he likes him more than the others.
What do I want? -there's always something. A very nice tonebender clone is coming my way shortly. That should be fun.
