NAD..Marshall JMP-1C 50th Anniversary

Post by opsguy »

Thanks to Matt, this little Marshall arrived at my office today

Had time this evening for a little play through it - very impressed. The amp is too loud at 1watt for the apartment, but the low power mode is just right. Great overdrive tones at conversation levels. It has a gain boost as well.
Build quality flawless, my shit iphone pics don't come close to doing it justice.

Very pleased with it, will give it a decent run this weekend.

Thanks again Matt, as always top service. :)

That's a good-looking amp right there. 8) Be interested to hear what you think after a good run.

opsguy, I sense a mini jam in order in the Tron some time in the very near future. 1. to hear this and 2. to compare properly R9's of similar vintage.

Soundclips!!!
Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and he'll spend thousands on fishing equipment he'll use for a bit, then get bored and move onto something else.

I had 30 mins to give this a blast yesterday, no sound clips though DM, will bring it to the next gearfest.
This amp is lots of fun, no real clean tone at all and a loud 1 watt with the Les Paul. Plenty of dirt from about 5 on the vol.
Through the stock speaker it sounds good, plenty of gain..more than I was expecting actually. Quite bright so I had to back off the treble. I can take or leave the gain boost (actually preferred it off). 10inch speaker though so lacked some presence/depth - but good enough.
Put it through my Swart cab (2x12 Celestial Golds) and it shone, lots more oomph (technical term that) and the brightness was tamed a bit. I would imagine through a 4x12 it would be very impressive. I didn't get a chance to run it through the Bogner (2xV30's) but hopefully next weekend I will have time.
The low power mode though absolutely shines. This is what I bought it for and I am very happy. I can get a great Marshall drive tone in my apartment at a volume not to annoy my neighbours.
Seriously considering a JCM1 head now...
