NAD: Popping my Vox cherry

Post by Starfire »

New amp arrived today. Big thanks to Tod (Polar Bear) for sussing it out a great deal for me. It arrived super fast too.

Here's a rather shitty picture.
Image

'Tis a handwired AC15 with a Celestion Blue. It's my first Vox amp. The speaker still needs breaking in of course, but I'm really loving it. Lovely and warm and chimey and everything I imagined a Vox would sound like. The controls work really well too. The tone cut is really useful, and the master volume means you can get a pretty good drive sound at low volumes, especially on the half-power setting. There's plenty of clean headroom for my use on full power, particularly when using the low inputs too.

So yeah, very happy with it! :D

Awesome! Enjoy!

...and can you tell me exactly what it says on the back regarding where it is made. I know it's Vietnam, but I'm wondering if there's a company name or something.

Cheers guys! I'm very impressed with how defined it sounds when driven too. Really loving it.

HG - it says that it's made by Vox Manufacturing in Vietnam with assistance from Vox R&D England.

Yeah these are brilliant amps, and that's from a former Vox hater. I haven't tried the celestion blue version, only the greenback, but it was brilliant. Love the breakup on them so much. Congrats, good choice.
