NPD Catalinbread Formula No. 5

Post by jeremyb »

To say I'm a massive 5E3 fan is an understatement, so when the opportunity to swap one of my power supplies for this came up I jumped at it!

It's the original version with the best graphics (IMHO) and I've had it sitting taunting me on my bedside table for a week now, finally had a chance today to crank it into the AC15 and see how it sounds as I'm off work sick in an empty house :mental:

I'm in love, it's bumped my HBE Germania off my pedalboard and I just love how raucous it is!! The telemaster is permanently in double drop-D so I cranked out Cinnamon girl ad nauseam to try out some settings... the pedal sounds huge and really makes the amp come alive, wheeeeeeeeee, my ears were ringing for about 15 minutes after I finished playing  it adds a TON of volume, and really scratches that Neil Young itch, can't wait to give it some more play time, have really not been that enthused with guitar playing recently, but this has reminded me why I collect all this gear, mucho gracias to Mr Slowfingers, great trade bro, I'm stoked!

Good score, JB. I'm quite fond of those Catalinbread "foundation" pedals. Speaking of Cinnamon Girl...their demo vid for your pedal is pretty cool.

Yeah...... when you expressed interest, I had this vision of a heavenly match:

Slowy, "Start with a great clean tone and add washes of colour".
JB, "Clean is an abomination!!!!"

I liked the F5 but every time I stepped on it, this mad rottweiler appeared and tried to rip my head off.
Delighted it's found a home!
