Ibanez Dove

Post by Jake »

Got this from cash converters a while back, finally got the pickguard to go on it! Ibanez F-759 "Dove" copy from the 70s.

At some point in this guitars history it's had three minor repairs done on the back/sides. Rather than refinishing just those spots, a previous owner painted over the entire back and sides in a horrible thick red. I spent a couple of hours chipping it off with a library card and mild desolvent to reveal the original finish underneath.

I left the red paint in the spots that had been repaired, but I've covered them up with some stickers.

Also added a new pickguard as the original had been replaced at some point with a standard black one.

Gave it a setup, fretboard clean and fret polish and it's playing and sounding pretty good. The top is a bit battered but that's fine, it's not a precious high end guitar and it cost me about $200 all up.
