I played that to four of my young staff; all of whom consider themselves hotshot players.

It was a quiet and thoughtful afternoon from them!

If you want another of those in the future put on Gary's 'The Prophet' or 'Blues For Narada'

Would never guess you were a Strat guy! Couldn’t think of anyone more deserving to own an R8 and actually get the most out of it!

Spent all my life playing Strats while being a big fan of LP tones.
Finally at a point where I can somewhat convince myself I’m not an idiot to spend so much money on one guitar. Kinda glad I did though 😂

Christ, that's excellent. Great tone too.

I always loved this live in Germany version from the early 80s. Neil Murray on bass, Ian Paice on drums, and Don Airey on keyboards (pretty sure that was the line-up). Recall they broadcast three songs. He played his salmon pink Strat on the other two. His playing was epic. As good as I ever heard him.

Never got into his blues though. I always thought he approached it like a bull at a gate.

I’ve got this whole gig on video, really cool version of PW as you said. His blues playing varies from very tasteful to OTT over the years, I guess it’s just down to what he was feeling like on any given day :)

Blues for Greeny is a great album. IMO his best work was when he was playing with the Midnight horns section early 90’s, Blues Alive is still one of my favourite albums

My uncle was Gary’s producer and studio engineer for a number of years. Got to hear some cool stories about Gary when I caught up with him when I was in the UK a few years ago
