Amp line up
Thanks to Conway I’m back to full backline and more.
Now, to convince my eldest to move out so I can turn his room into an amp room.

Re: Amp line up
What's the burgundy number there?
Also, Princeton plus Plexi is about all the amp I'd ever really need.

Great collection Grant!
But you do realise you've just created a thread where you go through your impressions of these beasties?
Can't wait!

Beyond a critical point within a finite space, freedom diminishes as numbers increase. This is as true of humans as it is of gas molecules in a sealed flask. The human question is not how many can possibly survive within the system, but what kind of existence is possible for those who so survive.

Re: Amp line up
If you want the 1974 tone I don't think an SV20 will get you there.
Edit: sorry, I was thinking of the Origin 20. Haven't tried the SV. As you were.

I think the the amplifier wins my heart when it comes to the gear I like most.

Re: Amp line up
To be fair, there are only four amps there. Just looks impressive.
We have, l to r
1973 Princeton Reverb
2022 Trinity TC15 head on
2010 ish Marshall 1974CX cab
2014 (?) Divided by 13 BTR23
2017 Divided by 13 cab
2007 )I think) 65Amps Tupelo
So that gives me Fender, Vox/Matchless, HiWatt and, well, old school rock tones resp. Covered!
I’ve had many 1974X amps. I love them but I still find them too loud or too quiet depending on one’s circumstances. The sweet spot often doesn’t suit the moment. If That makes sense

Re: Amp line up
Yeah, they are a quiet 18W that is too loud for the bedroom and not loud enough for a drummer. I'm going to chuck an attenuator in mine too see if that helps. Dulling the treble a touch wouldn't be the end of the world either.GrantB wrote: ↑Sun Jun 18, 2023 8:30 am To be fair, there are only four amps there. Just looks impressive.

Re: Amp line up
A higher efficiency speaker goes a fair way to fixing the drummer thing. I used this cab (Celestion Blue) under a bog standard 1974X combo, and it was loud enough for a medium size un-mic'd gig. Funny how things change though - I'm looking for lower volume behind me now, and mic the amp up and let the PA do the work...then it's balanced also.
The TC15 gets that Marshall vibe (without the mid range so much) thing and the MV is astoundingly good. MisterB and I were playing it Friday night and were surprised how low it could go without turning into a fart.

Re: Amp line up
Is the TC15 more plexi or jcm kinda tones?

Re: Amp line up
More 1974X Marshall thing, but it’s really more hot Vox/Matchless…
