NPD: MI Audio Megalith Delta V2

Post by vintage52 »

I’ve used and absolutely enjoyed a MI Audio Tubezone for quite some time so when opportunity to get one of these came up, had to grab and give it a try.

Too early to say yet but will give it a fair go over the next few weeks.

Cool! Is the boost set at a certain dB? And after the other gain stages?

Absolutely fav of mine, total monster. I bought my old v1 back off a mate as couldn't get hold of a V2 easily at the time.
dibs if and when you decide to move it along :)

It has the most outrageous amount of low end in a pedal I've ever experienced. The guitarists in my Aussie band both use these pedals for fly rig convenience but the main guitarist has two Megalith heads, one being a proto :)

I’ve got a Laney L5T combo and the Greenback in there handles the low end of the pedal real well.

Makes the amp a monster when pedal engaged.

I've had the pedal for just on a week and it has nary a bad sound.

The setting in the first picture and playing around with the gain I can get classic AC/DC cleanish drive, singing gain that with some verb and delay is very stadium rock or some real nice chugging especially when engaging the boost which adds more gain rather than volume.

There's a trim pot inside which I've set half way.

On the low side, very cool JTM45 vibe when Gain is low - on the high side - almost Zakk Wyldeish ...... almost.

Amazingly, the bass never muddies. There's a note clarity that is maintained throughout that is bloody clever.

Not sure if it's a keeper yet.....I've lived with a Tube Zone for so long I think I may just be dialing in that gain structure and not really utilising the full range of the pedal.

Don’t know, I think it was a 1 but it went years ago. Great pedal, sad loss.

I bought a tubezone off you years ago, tarnished, almost rusty, case, only one original screw holding on the back plate and another missing completely, could only get one usable sound out of it for my tastes, but it was a very good sound!
A prick to dial in though, so in the end, I cleaned it up, got proper screws for it and moved it on.
That Megalith delta has some serious chug on youtube though, not sure I’d ever need that much gain, but sounds cool all the same!

Ahh yes, I remember now. That was a version 2.

Took me awhile to dial in the tones I liked from the Tube Zone.

The Tube Zones internal trim pot (think it is the character knob on the newer versions) could make it middy tight or quite saggy.

I had it set to saggy to get that creamy harmonic gain I like.

The internal trim pot on the Megalith set at the lowest gain gets you to about what the Tube Zone is like at half gain.

With high gain the Megalith still retains clarity and awesomeness!!!!
