He was in some "Underated guitarists" list I read a while back. the ritchie blackmore starting it statement made me think. on average, I wonder how many people's first song to learn (however butchered it was for me) was smoke on the water? I suspect an overwhelming majority, but I can only be subjective about it I guess..
