Hurdy Gurdy.... some how... and I'm not entirely certain how mind you, an instrument that sounds like someone has shoved a nest of angry hornets into a goose with a kazoo bill and is randomly slapping the poor creature with an accordion.... Sounds amazing.

I still think you could do worse than one of these for the coin:

The Iommi sig pups will set you back almost that on their own. One of these went on TM (from Cashies) recently for about $550 - I was peeved to be broke (as usual).

For me, well I couldn't just stick with one...

Joe Satriani's Signature guitars have always been a favourite of mine, so nice to play, versatile and great sound IMO. I have been in love with my 1995 JS1000TB since I got it, I'll never sell it everevereverever! What about the JS10th? *Drools*

Andy Timmons Signature guitar (when he was with Ibanez) felt similar when I played it in a music shop, loved the tone on that too. I really felt that it speaks with my voice.

John Petrucci's bfr signature is awesome, looks great and so many options for tone.

And how could anyone resist a Jem? Even if it was just for looks.

It's so hard to decide.... That's why I make my own (project) guitars so that I can get the sound, feel, looks and functionality I want. :)

I'd probably say this one (although I would still prefer a snakeskin model)

Like the Manson guitars that were made for Matt Bellamy from Muse, with the Kaoss pads in them, very cool!

I believe they do a 'production' version you can buy 8)
I agree. I love Matt B's "Mattocasters" i mean how many other guitarists are actually trying to break new territory with their sigs not just another guitar with a nice finish, name on the headstock and not necessarily even a good sound?
I ain't gonna work on Maggie's Farm no more. . .

Are the Kerry King gats any good? Always thought they looked the part -- although King uses BC Rich, and the rest of Slayer use ESP (Hanneman and Araya).

I think that the Ibanez JPM is/was a great guitar for a Signature model.
It has everything I desire in an Ibanez shred machine; direct mount pickups, no fingerplate, a thicker-than-wizard neck, and single volume and tone. The only thing I'd perhaps change is swapping out the 3-way switch to a 5-way and throwing in some single coil tones at 2 and 4. The paint job is something that is tolerated or not, but I like it myself, not to mention that the 90th Anniversary Edition looks great! If the Ibanez RG-Art was a Signature model it would beat out the JPM but..

I wanted to buy a JPM when I got my first "pro" guitar but the shop had to get it in from overseas and they took $$$ off the RG30 they had (which also fulfilled my criteria) to make it the same price and I couldn't say no. One of the best decisions I've ever made :)

Then there is the Jackson Kelly Marty Friedman Signature, I think that rocks; single humbucker, fixed bridge, even comes with psycho groupie repelling horn!

The Rory Gallagher strat I played was up there with vintage ones I've played for tone. The Eric Johnson strat also is excellent for an off-the-shelf strat. The Billie Joe Armstrong LP Jr I played was really good, and the Musicman EVH is a great little guitar, possibly the nicest shredder guitar made. Ibanez' Pat Metheny two pickup model is a killer guitar. Jimmy Xmas' Pete Townshend SG sounds and plays beautifully, but it's not the most stable guitar tuning-wise.

It's been a looong time, but I remember the Danny Gatton tele I played was very cool.

I could play any of those guitars as-is and be pretty happy.
