Strat wiring - 3 way plus switch
Can anyone help me out with this
I'd like to wire my Strat with two controls and a three way tele switch plus a toggle.
Ideally
Standard tele
Neck
Neck plus bridge
Bridge
With a switch that would add the middle pickup in series with either the neck or bridge or both to give a thicker sound on occasion.
Cheers

Re: Strat wiring - 3 way plus switch
I guess another way of looking at it is that I want to add a middle pickup to a tele wiring set up, but keep the three way switch and use a toggle to activate the middle pickup

Re: Strat wiring - 3 way plus switch
I can't seem to find an on-on-on three way toggle so if anyone knows how to use an on-on two may mini toggle in this that would be cool. The three way toggle always for the middle to be sued alone, but I don't need that.

No, You want the pick up either in series or shortened out. Jaycar have a $4.50 four pole toggle switch that will do the job.Actually, is this what I want?
When faced with quality, I recognise it every time.

Re: Strat wiring - 3 way plus switch
a regular DPDT switch can do the job, I did a (vaguely) similar setup in a 3 x P90 guitar based on the Troy Van leeuwen Yamaha.
If we number the terminals like so:
1 2
3 4
5 6
connect 1 to the 3 way switch output and a jumper to 6
connect 2 to the middle pup hot
connect 3 to the middle pup ground
connect 4 to vol pot input
connect 5 to earth
when the switch is up (1-3, 2-4 connected) the mid pup is in series with whatever is coming from the three way, when it's down the 3 way selection goes through unaffected (and mid is grounded via 5)

Re: Strat wiring - 3 way plus switch
Confused, are you wanting the standard Tele positions with the toggle one way and then the extra strat positions with the toggle the other way?

Re: Strat wiring - 3 way plus switch
Thanks for that, yep that's the idea.
It's going into a Strat but using the neck and bridge as tele style set up with the the option to throw the mid pickup in there.
