Great Strat!

Borrowed a Strat from a mate. A road worn Mexican.

Haven't played a Strat for years. Really enjoying it!

And... it looks the absolute bomb...

Looks just the way a Strat should look. Nice indeed!

I've always thought that. New looking Strats are just wrong!

I love my Mexican Strat. It's a '91 and sounds amazing.

I'm assuming there's a fault with the pickup wiring somewhere, because when I move the pickup selector into the middle position I get a nice bit of additional gain ~ really quite handy. It's like having an extra channel available to what my amp has :D

Someone may have wired the middle position as neck and bridge in series, which will give you a gain and volume boost, kinda like you have a humbucker.
Too many guitars, not enough talent.

Ahhh quite possibly then, thanks for the heads up. I put a 'stutter-switch' in to fill up the hole left from the bottom tone pot. When I got the Strat back the bridge pickup doesn't work (which is fine because I never use that anyway), so that's now became a useful kill-switch in its own right.

Guessing when he did the mod he's wired something back up wrong, which for me was a lucky accident. Sounds better than before

One thing I thought looked odd ~ and someone may chip in with the answer... just wondered why there is no fingerboard wear at the 12th fret ?!

Never played in E?
Beyond a critical point within a finite space, freedom diminishes as numbers increase. This is as true of humans as it is of gas molecules in a sealed flask. The human question is not how many can possibly survive within the system, but what kind of existence is possible for those who so survive.

Agreed, played loads, they are awesome guitars.

Played a full dress rehearsal last night with it. Normally I have to fuck about with tone to get things right when I try a different guitar, but this slotted in beautifully. Gigging it tonight. Will report back, but I'm tempted to try and find a good one of my own if I can't convince Sam to sell it!

You should try my one matt, it's got upgraded pickups. Doing the pickups is a big step forward again.
