I'm seriously wanting something along these lines..tumnus, archer , ktr... any opinions on what's out there.
Looking for the boost/mild drive capabilities.. usually playing single coils or p90s into a clean el84 amp..

Having tried most of those mentioned above and others, only the Bondi Effects Sick As is as good as a KTR Klon, and it may even be better.

I'm very pleased with the Monsterpiece STUD.

Well, everything except the name.

Could you really tell a significant difference between the JRockett (who built the first 1500 KTR) and the KTR?

I have an Archer Gold. Works for me for the reasons you described. Bandmate had a Tumnus. It was slightly different; not better, different. If I'd met it before the Archer, would have bought.

Truth is, if I'm listening to the sound of my gear, I can hear differences. But if I shut up and play my guitar, I'm equally happy with the EHX Soul Food on my second board.

If I recall, yours were the words of wisdom that stopped me from bothering upgrading my EHX Soul Food.

I had a Bad Cat Siamese Drive once... I see there's one regularly on TM at the moment, from Malcolm IIRC? I actually really liked it, the freakishly reasonable price is also a bonus.
