I picked up a new Cordoba today. It's a great guitar and I'm liking it so far, but the low E was buzzing around the 7th fret so I thought I'd adjust the truss rod to give it some relief. The neck is dead straight. I figured it could be a high fret but I've always fiddled with truss rods to some success. I took the allen key that came with it and gently turned it to loosen and it made a cracking, groaning sound that I could feel through the neck and didn't really budge. Needless to say I haven't tried to turn it any further.
Could it be a humidity thing or is it stuffed?

Re: Is it stuffed?
You can get a little bit of creaking and groaning when adjusting old truss rods. Cracking, not so sure...
Can't see why there'd be an issue with turning it further, though. If you've snapped the truss rod, one end of it will just be rotating loosely and not changing the neck relief at all. If you haven't snapped the truss rod, then you're golden. But I'm not an expert so don't blame me if you wreck it etc.

Re: Is it stuffed?
If it is a single action truss rod you are turning the nut anti clock wise right?
Did you loosen the strings first?
Always move the nut in small steps. 1/8 or 1/4 of a turn, tune up and check. Repeat if necessary.

When faced with quality, I recognise it every time.

Yeah, loosen strings first.

Dry thread, squirt of WD40 would help.
