Best Auckland set up?

I had the "improperly seated frets, need a refret" with audio zephyr also. From some of these comments I am Starting to wonder if that's just his standard line? Frets were fantastic when done though, and guitar played awesome.

That said, I'm on the lookout for someone else to do my Jackson.

My experience is that it's not a standard line, because he hadn't done it for any previous guitars or any since.

But yeah, I was pissed off he didn't phone first, somewhat mollified by his not asking for any money for it for 12 months.

I'm guessing Scott's about to get flooded with requests for work!

Another vote for scott,super nice guy and has set up a few guitars for me that have come ex-auckland. Its a difficult one as we all have our particular preferences,i play anywhere from E standard to A standard and STILL dont know what my ideal string guage is for the best setup

Been a few years, but Glynn'sfret work has always been outstanding on several guitars I have had him do leveling and crowning on.

I had audio zephyr say I needed a partial refret on a guitar, and he was right, those frets were messed up. He did a fine job, quickly and at a good price. I would definitely go to him again for a refret as he is very skilled at it (and I am not). However, for general setup, I prefer my own work to his (because I know what I'm doing, and unlike him I do it exactly how I like it - that's not a dig against him, I'd say the same about any luthier).

However, judging from the amount of refrets he does (have a gander at his facebook page) I do get the feeling AZ usually jumps to "needs a refret" instead of doing a level and crown. He seems to really like fresh new frets, but I'd reckon many would like the original frets to last as long as possible, and a good luthier can coax some extra longevity out of the original frets.

He is a good mate and has some years of experience doing setups on gats/basses through the RS. Lots of good feedback about him too and VERY easy to deal with unlike some of the previously mentioned guys who are a bit eccentric. Tell him Reuben sent you, he may either curse, or laugh.

Scott is one of the best human beings ever to walk the earth. He also does awesome setups, pickup installs and the like. Recommended!
