As much as I think that Malmsteen fella is about as interesting as frozen crap, that sig Strat you have of his looks like some serious fun to play.

'76 JMP, somewhat a man cave decoration... The JCM is the only one that makes it to band practice.. Both are 95watts more than I need, but they make me smile..

Rory Strat, about the only decent pic I have of it.

Still my number 1 at home, barely play anything else.

Feck, that's a lot of Strats. The 'Malmsteen' at the front. What's the story there?

The story starts in china .... its a FAKE that I got of oldie. Dropped some duncans in it and a brass block and it is now my favourite guitar....so much better than my real malmsteen at about 1/30th of the price

Thought that 22nd fret was a bit of a give-away. Cool that it's a good guitar despite being a fake though.

Here's my baby, MIJ 62 reissue circa 2004. Photo taken about 5 yrs back, not long after I got it. Deck railings since painted and nearly due for a repaint - don't use cheap fence paint.

My only real strat shortly after buying it in 1993. It was a 1973 USA something or other with Seymour Duncan active pickups and Kahler tremolo installed by the owner before the guy I bought it off.

Very quiet for recording, very stable tuning. The tone often seemed less dynamic than I would have preferred.

Having trouble uploading a pic.

I suppose it would be cheating to show ones I made for other people, but there are a couple I made for me first, and then sold without ever playing them outside of the usual testing and trying various options. Both to the same chap in Christchurch, I seem to recall.

First one is a super light western red cedar body with a no-TR kwila neck. Dimarzio Blue velvet pickups. Gold hardtail and Klusons.

The second one is a superstrat called Agent 99 (it was #99). One-piece blackwood body grown on a farm in Opotiki. Maple neck, rosewood fretboard. Originally had pickups wound by me, but they were swapped out and modified for another guitar and this one got a DiMarzio ProTrack, Fast Track and FRED also in white.

nice. The orange one in my photo's is NZ grown blackwood as well. Am in the middle of building a second on with a jackson style neck...also a long way off being done
