Yes all the grounds are coming in from the same place but by installing a 600v capacitor you isolate the shielding ground from the return ground. It creates a Faraday cage around your control cavity thus eliminating the hummm.

The 600v cap not only isolate all the control ground from the return but also protect in case of(very rare) possible electrocution when a guitarist touch a Mic that is not on the same circuit than his amp.
