Um.....help!? *worry*
Dunno what forum this should be in, but this'll do.
If there's an issue with the gats' electronics (loose wiring, or shorting), is it possible to damage other gear along the chain, ie amp, pedals, etc?
Me POD's been giving me a little bit of trouble, not a big problem yet, but I sure as s** don't like the looks of it.
I can be merrily playing away when all of a sudden it just turns itself off. Turn the switch off and on and it comes right. Not a problem yet in that I can be playing for something like 2 or 3 hours straight and it'll only do it once. But it shouldn't be doing it AT ALL so I'm rather concerned about it.
The ONLY thing that has *changed* that I can think might be causing it is that i dropped my gat the other night after prac (the dropped was followed by a VERY LOUD high pitched squeal - ME!). If something's come loose could it be shorting out or something?

Re: Um.....help!? *worry*
More likely a pod fault...psu or something.
She told me baby when you race today just take along my love with you, and if ya knew how much I love you baby, nothin' could go wrong with you.
Re: Um.....help!? *worry*
Damn, that's what I'm thinking too.
So hope not! Past warranty and no way I'd be able to afford a repair, and NEEEEEED it for my set-up.

The switch on my XT is buggered. I think BG may have had a similar problem?
Anywho, I just leave the switch alone, and use the wall switch to turn it on and off.
Your problem could be as simple as that?

Yeah also have a dead pod, it started randomly not switching on, now it just won't switch on at all. Common problem?
Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and he'll spend thousands on fishing equipment he'll use for a bit, then get bored and move onto something else.

Re: Um.....help!? *worry*
Yes common problem, certainly with the XT, my X3 is left on all the time so haven't had that issue yet!
If you can solder you can get a new switch easily enough, DSE do them IIRC. Or just bypass the switch so its always on.

This is probably the thing that puts me off getting a Pod or similar unit the most, the fact that if the Pod dies, your whole rig is gone. I like that with my pedal board, all I usually have to do is replace a patch cable.

I wouldn't gig with an amp sim anyway, just doesn't feel right live. Good for a backup though. And if the M13 dies I can get away with just the amp and a screamer.

Re: Um.....help!? *worry*
I don't gig, so it ain't a problem.
And if you are gigging with it, without a back-up plan, and it dies, well, sucks to be you!
Anyway, have we sorted your problem?

Morning(-ish) all.
Nah, don't think it's the switch. But hey, could be, dunno.
Happened again today. I practiced for about 3 1/2 hours (ie straight continued playing). About somewhere around the 1/2hr to 1hr mark (wasn't watching time) it cut out. Was fine for the remainder (until the MISSUS then cut me off, wondering when I was going to cook a feed, lol).
Been looking online but haven't seen anyone else mentioning the same problem. Basically the unit just suddenly dies, no lights, no display, just a bit of a hum (in the headphones (practice)). Only started doing it a week and a half ago. Really quite lost as to what the story is with it. I look after it very well! As I do with all my gear. Works perfectly well otherwise, no other issues.
Problem is I'm skint as f**, so having a decent back-up plan is financially not an option
As a TOTAL LAST RESORT, if I really had to, I guess I could mic up my old practice amp.
But really I want to work out what's going on here, cause I really, really, really like my POD, lol.

Can understand why most wouldn't. But the set-up work really well for me, both gearwise and soundwise.BG wrote:I wouldn't gig with an amp sim anyway, just doesn't feel right live.

Just resignedly emailed Line6 support.
*grumble*
Not got high hopes. Support lines suck, lol.

Oops, sorry, I didn't mean to be harsh.
Seriously, though, you should have some sort of back-up plan.

Yeah. Anyone doing gigs ideally should have a double of everything, if not, some sort of viable backupTulip wrote:Oops, sorry, I didn't mean to be harsh.

Re: Um.....help!? *worry*
Back-up? Really? For what?
I gigged for 25 years with 1 guitar, 1 amplifier, 1 cord and a scabby old overdrive pedal; the only thing I carried as a "back-up" was a spare cable!! Is music that complex nowadays that you need all of this equipment to sing a song?!

There is no sort of aberrant behaviour that cannot be modified by use of the correct ammunition!

Re: Um.....help!? *worry*

gigging is a different beast these days. I suspect that there was a time that if one's gear failed, the crowd would be behind them and hang about till things are sorted.. now days, they walk.. fickle as hell.
